The miraculous power of Hisarya’s mineral springs

Hisarya is situated in the central part of Bulgaria, in the south slopes of the mountain of Sredna gora, 360 m above the sea level. In the different seasons the town sinks into the aroma of lindens, lilacs and roses.Hisar has 22 mineral springs – 16 natural and 6 extracted by deep sounding, with a temperature from 37 to 53oC. The water is not very mineralized, it has no color and smell, with a pleasant taste. The mineral water in Hisar can be either used as for drinking everyday or for prevention of different diseases. The biggest proof for the healing power of the mineral water in Hisarya is the museum collection of kidney stones and the special hospital for rehabilitation. Among the exponents is the biggest kidney stone in Bulgaria, weighting 560 gr. Except for its mineral waters Hisarya is famous for its cultural landmarks. The archeological museum attracts many visitors every year. It was found by the local patriot gen. Todor Markov. It has a rich collection of archeological and ethnographic finds. There are three orthodox churches and one catholic temple and a mosque in Hisar. The most visited is the cathedral “St. St. Petar and Pavel”. Other famous orthodox temples are “St. Panteleymon”, the church “St. Dimitar”.Many of the traditions of our ancestors have been preserved in Hisar and the area around. Despite of the most festivals being connected with the Christian religion, there are many preserved pagan rituals: authentic mummers “djumali”, fire – dancers, the festivals of Trifon Zarezan, Baba Marta, St. George’s day. In many of their homes people have preserved and still use authentic national costumes, mummers’ masks and musical instruments. There are many interesting places in Hisar and the area which have to be seen: the Thracian tombs in the village of Starosel, the Thracian cromlech in the village of Staro Jelezare. Here a range of events take place – the annual festival of the amateur theatrical formations, the mummers’ procession in February, the festivals of mineral water at the beginning of June, the festival of rose in the village of Starosel.For the lovers of nature are the offers for adventures in Sredna Gora – protected places, rocky forms and caves, forest sanctuaries and of course hobby – tourism!Hisar is a starting point for many walking tours in Sredna gora. For relaxation are used the huts “Fenera”, “Voden kamak”, “Buntovna”, “Chivira”, “Barikadi”. The information tour center is in favor of everybody, who is interested of the tour wealth of Hisarya. Here are organized different cycling tours for beginners and trained cyclers.The routes pass through mixed forests, around lakes and villa zones. Very popular are also the horse passages. There are excellent hunting fields in the region of Hisar. The gradating landscape from a field, pre – Balkan and Balkan is a good game country. There is a great variety of fish in the lakes.Hisar is not only a place where you can heal yourself and enjoy the nature but also to feel the pleasure of good food and drinks.The culinary temptations are numerous. There are many cosy restaurants where delicious and true food is served. In the center many cafes with outdoor tables are situated and this contributes to the bohemian atmosphere of the town.Undoubtedly the most beautiful thing in Hisar is the parks which invite the guests to enjoy the numerous decorative trees and flowers. There are four types of lindens with a different period of blooming which provide pleasant fragrance for more than 30 days.The sweet smell of flowers in the park and the silence broken only by the song of the birds are a balsam for the tired from the city noise people. The parks are a part of the healing complex – mineral water, fresh air, silence and healthy food. That is why on some of the alleys are situated path ways for physical and respiratory exercises.Many people go through this town. And each of them takes a piece of its charm with him. Many come back again and again to reload with health, beauty and emotions. |
