Vitosha, Sofia’s “park” is fittingly claimed to be the lungs of Sofia. Vitosha is the most visited Bulgarian Mountain. It rises immediately above Sofia and is one of the symbols of our capital. Few are the big cities in the world, and capitals are even fewer, that possess such a natural advantage. Vitosha Mountain is the most significant part of the Plana-Zavala Mountain system. With its highest peak - Cherni Vrah (2290 m.) it occupies the fourth place among the Bulgarian mountains. The Vitosha ski resort is situated 18 km from downtown Sofia, at a height of 1800 m above sea level. Vitosha is indeed a high-class ski resort. Snow in winter is a guarantee. The close proximity of the big city with its dynamic and variegated nightlife is so captivating that the next day you will need to relax on the ski runs.
